Awards

The Trustees meet every other year in June or July to decide on the distribution of awards with the value £250-£1500 each.

Applications are invited from women educated in the UK who have appropriate academic qualifications and who wish to undertake further training or research in the UK at any appropriate educational establishment.

Please check carefully that you meet our criteria, noting the exclusions listed below. Funding is not normally available for:

  • Undergraduate degrees with the exception of mature students who are not eligible for student loans
  • PGCEs
  • Legal practice courses
  • NHS career progression
  • Writing-up time for a PhD
  • Travel outside the UK or conference attendance
  • Students born outside the UK whose only educational qualification in the UK is at Master’s level.

It is rare for the Trust to award funding for a postgraduate degree immediately following an undergraduate degree, for a second Master's degree, or for projects or courses that are part of a postgraduate degree or training programme that has already received funding.

All candidates should be reassured that each application is assessed on its own merits and that the trustees are aware of the continuing pressures placed on applicants by the changing circumstances that occur in higher education.

Please note that we are a small trust with limited funding and we are not currently able to:

  • Answer queries on eligibility for which the answers are available on the website
  • Answer requests for funding which have not followed our application procedure
  • Contact unsuccessful applicants.

If you have not been contacted by the Trust by the end of July in the application cycle, you should assume that your application was unsuccessful.
